Founders Ben and Jake Fetzer launched Masút Vineyard & Winery with a focus to produce estate Pinot Noir. The brothers are the grandsons of Barney Fetzer, who built Fetzer Vineyards with his family. In the early 1990s, their father, Robert Fetzer, was eager to begin a new chapter. He purchased a 1,200-acre property, which he named Masút, a Native American word meaning “dark, rich earth.
